Mets Add Bay

If I had waited one more day to make a list of the best and worst moves this off-season, it would feature a new move in the top three.

Today, the Mets reportedly agreed to a four-year deal with outfielder Jason Bay. The deal is rumored to be worth $66 million, according to mlb.com.

The Mets adding Bay is a clear improvement for the Mets attempts to compete with the Phillies in the National League East.

The Phillies and Braves both have made numerous changes to their rosters heading into next year. Some of these moves were included in the "worst" moves on the list I posted previously.

The Mets outfield now is arguably the best in pro baseball, as Bay would join Carlos Beltran and Jeff Francoeur.

In a lineup that already features David Wright, Bay is a welcome power addition, especially with the probability that Carlos Delgado is not going to be resigned by the club.

Bay will go to the Mets after spending his first full season in Boston after spending almost his whole career in the majors with Pittsburgh. He had previously been in the minors with the former Montreal Expos, and a few games in San Diego in 2003.

In his 2009 campaign, Bay hit .267 with 36 home runs and 119 runs batted in. His career numbers total 185 homers and 610 RBI's with a .280 average.
